Some of the lovely people who received samples but couldn't access the blog have emailed their thoughts to me and have been kind enough to let me publish these for them... thank you all!

From Anneline Creamer (great name for a cream liqueur lover!): "I really enjoyed it... it was a tasty drink. I'm a big fan of Baileys, and being South African the stunning Amarula of course, but this drink tops both"

I'm soooo excited about getting these and the other comments - it's wonderful to be able to share what people think about JAGOs.

Aaargh! Technology Failure

OK, so I got about three-quarters of the way through emailing each person who received a sample, and my computer started making alarmingly loud noises (hoping it's just the fan and not the CPU or whatever, and will be calm and happy again soon).

So, having done the tried-and-tested Helpdesk routine ("Have you tried switching it off and on again?") and still unable to make Word or Outlook behave, I'm going to bed and will hope all is well in the morning. Otherwise Jo, our Finance Director, will kill me for not backing up often enough.

I'll finish the rest in the morning.

Hmmmm.

St Patrick's Day 2006

On March 17th 2006 we had the opportunity to ask several thousand people in the UK if they wanted to taste JAGOs. All they had to do was email [email protected] and tell us their name, address and date of birth. We had over 500 replies, which we were thrilled with, and ended up in email conversation with quite a few of them - which we really like.

This evening I'm going to email each person who received a little sample of JAGOs and ask them to come and read our blog and leave us their comments.

(As Philip will tell you, it has taken me a few weeks to be this brave!)

Dear samplers - anything you want to say about your impressions of the company and our drink is most welcome here. We especially would like to know if you actually bought a bottle with your voucher!

Apart from ad hoc ads, e-cards, and tastings at shows, it has been mainly PR that has begun to get us noticed. Sainsbury’s Magazine, The Scotsman, Scottish Field, The Herald, Drink Magazine, QX Magazine, Delicious, SLTN, Bartender, and a few others. The tricky bit was that question, “But what’s the hook?” I.e.: “apart from the fact it’s delicious, what else do you have to say about JAGOs?”

Hmmmm.

Showtime

We did a gazillion consumer shows from launching JAGOs in the UK in October 2003, until March 2005. Everything from the BBC Good Food Show to the Covent Garden Food Lovers’ Fair and county equine events (horse folk drink quite a lot and appreciated our personal touch!) We did over 1.5 million tastings at these shows, and we got a lot of feedback from the people who tried JAGOs.

 

We do the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham every year, by the way, so come and say hello to us and try some JAGOs.

 

We found that 1 in 8 people who tasted JAGOs bought a bottle there and then (an envied ‘conversion rate’ we discovered later from competition.)

Tara spotting

Very soon you will be able to find where Tara is in the world via the wonderful Plazes wifi tracking system. We had a few teething problems** last night, but all should be well soon. We are also in the progress of plotting our retailers around the globe using the fab Google Earth, which has new version 4.0.2 out today. This includes the ability to build your own 3D buildings into the map, very shortly Benholm in South Nesting will appear on the map so you can all see where Robin is sitting.

** = Tara and myself meet in South London, just by Vauxhall bridge, however the GPRS style map on her laptop was telling us she was in Gloucester.
