We definitely haven't got JAGOs' proposition/presentation perfect yet but we've got an opportunity that we would be mad to resist.
A bit of background, I think:
In July, Joanna Dennis, our Finance Director, and I had a 2 minute chat with about whether I should spend £300 and buy a video camera to play with some ideas I had. (Even found a 12-months interest-free credit for a good one.)
Shortly after that we got an email from a freelance cameraman in Shetland, Peter Johnson, who wondered if we needed any help. So I thought I'd take a small gamble and hire Peter for a day.
I knew I wanted to do some stuff to camera about our gin and the Shetland botanicals that go to make it so lush.
I also wanted to communiate the team behind the gin and where it comes from, and most of all I wanted to capture the culture of our company, humour and our warmth for each other.
I wasn't sure at the start whether the recorded material was simply for the website we've now almost finished (launches next Thursday, so Charlie, Chris and Rob tell me). I wasn't sure if it would become part of an investor presentation. Or something else. Or even just a small waste of time and money.
But very quickly it was clear we had captured absolute gems, from Caroline (our founder and CEO), Robin (our customer happiness manager), Andrea (our finance wizard) and me (creative director).
Peter straightaway set about roughly editing them into 20 second filmlets, perhaps for TV, perhaps for the internet, wasn't sure. They're on youtube.com so you can go and have a look if you have a couple of minutes. Actually I'd love it if you would rate them using the youtube stars, the more feedback the better.
Then we discovered that it's actually quite affordable to advertise on ITV. Since we're a Scottish company and since this is a GIANT experiment, we've bought airtime just on STV (Scottish ITV). So from next week, our gin is going to be on the telly between 11pm and midnight (late=affordable) for 25 days in a row. Really hoping we get a good response.
Now I'm thinking we should do something similar for JAGOs...
